Women’s Track Sends Runners to NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships
The Baldwin Wallace women’s track team sent two runners to compete at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on March 12 and 13.
Sophomore runner Hope Murphy (Mogadore HS) put an exclamation point on her outstanding season, as she placed 10th in the one-mile finals with a time of 5:21.06.
Senior runner Alyssa Laughner (Central Mountain HS, PA) added a second All American honor to her resume as she placed 8th in the one-mile finals with a time of 4:59.57.
These performances come after excellent runs for both in the one-mile preliminary round on day one, as Murphy finished in 5th place with a time of 5:00.13. Laughner finished closely behind in 10th place with a time of 5:01.15, which qualified both runners for the finals.
Murphy and Laughner have a quick turnaround, as the Yellow Jackets will begin the outdoor track season on March 18th, as they travel to Lexington, Virginia for the first meet of the season.
