This October, Netflix released a new whodunit thriller, “The Woman in Cabin 10,” starring acclaimed English actress Keira Knightley. The film follows Laura Blacklock, a travel journalist, as she boards a luxury yacht to write her latest piece and stumbles upon a conspiracy that slowly unravels.  

Director Simon Stone takes viewers on a thrilling journey as the characters voyage through the breathtaking fjord scenery.  

Upon boarding, Laura is greeted by the crew of the Aurora Borealis, a lavish yacht full of wealthy socialites, who seem too good to be true. Her inexperience with the posh life is made clear when she’s asked to remove her shoes, which sparks laughter among the crew, amused by her supposed lack of manners.  

In a shocking turn, after she’s settled into her cabin, she witnesses what she believes to be a fight, followed by a blonde-haired passenger being thrown overboard.  

When she alerts the crew and other passengers, a crew member tells her the room next door is vacant. However, Laura knows this to be untrue because of the cigarette butts that roll under the dividing wall of her balcony.  

The crew members, along with the other passengers, are dismissive of her distress, thinking she’s delusional and going through some kind of manic episode following another murder she witnessed in the past. Augmenting her unease, the characters she confides in are shrouded in obscurity, leaving her wondering if anyone can truly be trusted.  

The frustration of watching Laura repeatedly being held back from uncovering the mystery is palpable and kept me eager to know more.  

It is clear that the director excels at creating suspense, driving the story along through shocking reveals and nail-biting chase scenes.  

Keira Knightley, unsurprisingly, does a stellar job portraying Laura. Her performance is convincing and raw, and a genuine depiction of a tormented woman, practically begging those around her to see things through her eyes. I found myself truly rooting for this character and was left on the edge of my seat.  

Aside from Knightley’s performance, viewers can enjoy a compelling tale of deception and conspiracy that is sure to keep them guessing.
