BW Holds Candlelight Vigil for Ben Caskey
Following the passing of Baldwin Wallace student Ben Caskey, a candlelight ceremony was held in his honor. The ceremony was held on October 14th, outside of Kamm Hall. Family members, friends, students, faculty, and the brothers of Sigma Phi Epsilon gathered to remember Caskey and the impact he had on Baldwin Wallace.
As students and community members alike gathered, candles were lit and stories and memories of Caskey were shared. Several faculty members spoke, including Vice President of Student Affairs Dr. Timeka Rashid who described Caskey as the epitome of the Baldwin Wallace community. “A leader with impact, a leader who touches many,” said Rashid. She closed her speech by reminding the crowd that Caskey’s “legacy of leadership and impact will continue to live on here at BW.”
As the ceremony closed, faculty shared that a scholarship dedicated to Caskey is currently in the works. It will be coming out within the next few months in order to commemorate his impact on the University and to support incoming students.
