Baldwin Wallace University students may not be aware of all of the dining choices available around campus.  The most common places students eat are The Union, Lang, Buzzy’s, and either Domino’s or Georgio’s Pizza, but there are plenty more options that are just a short walk away. Right in downtown Berea, there are a wide range of options for students to enjoy such as authentic international cuisine, good old-fashioned burgers and, of course, dessert!
If students are looking for authentic Latin cuisine, they should head over to Campus Grille. The menu ranges from plantain chips and dip to roasted pork shoulder. The rotisserie chicken is just one of their claims to fame.
“It is really good, a lot of bang for your buck, and the people are really friendly,” sophomore Maggie Schalk said.  Campus Grille provides food that is always fresh, and never frozen. It is open Monday through Saturday.
Sweet Mango offers students authentic Thai food. They have a wide variety of dishes that are delicious and healthy and they were voted the winner of the 2008 Cleveland HotList. Their menu includes teriyaki chicken, mango curry, orange chicken, and many other options.
“Sweet Mango has a home-like atmosphere. Their food is enjoyable, but can be a little spicy depending on what you order. I would recommend for everyone to at least try it once,” Patrick Barrett, a freshman, said.
If students are in the mood for American cuisine, Mike’s Bar and Grille offers traditional bar food that is anything but typical.  Every month they have a new menu with a different appetizer, sandwich, burger, salad, and entrée.
“It is a nice, little place to get some food. They have delicious burgers, and their fries are to die for. If you are looking for good bar food, Mike’s is a place to check out,” sophomore Christine Lyzen said.  Additionally, Mike’s serve over 60 craft beers and they are constantly introducing new flavors.
Another possibility is Corner Stone Brewery which offers a home-like atmosphere with a friendly staff. They have weekly specials, and serve burgers, sandwiches, pizzas and wonderful appetizers.  “Corner Stone Brewery has very nice employees! They have a wide variety on their menu, but their burgers and soup are my favorite,” Jackie Saker, freshman, said.
For dessert, students can stop by Igloo’s Frozen Yogurt and create their own frozen yogurt dish. Igloo’s boasts 70 plus toppings and many yogurt flavors to choose from. This month, some of their flavors include vanilla, cake batter, and pomegranate/raspberry sorbet.
“Igloo’s is a cute little place to grab some frozen yogurt after dinner. They have so many toppings to choose from! My favorite thing is that you can divide your bowl up to make a couple different creations,” junior Jules Noonan said.   In addition, Igloo’s offers a 10% student discount on Sunday and Monday if you bring your student I.D. card.
There are several other dining options close to campus, including Chipotle, Maya, Aladdin’s Eatery, Olive Garden and Five Guys – just to name a few. Many of them offer student discouts to BW students who can present their jacket express at the time of purchase.
