Women look to outswim competition
Last season, the Baldwin Wallace Women’s Swimming and Diving team placed fourth in the OAC Championships. They set school records, and even had an individual OAC Champion swimmer, but John Carroll won their third straight OAC Championship.
This year, the Yellow Jackets return and look to make another trip to the OAC Championships, which would be hosted by the Yellow Jackets anyway. They have placed fourth or better in the OAC Championships each of the last four years, and the path to taking that extra step this season has already begun.
The team started the season on Oct. 4 competing at Case Western Reserve University in the unscored Spartan Relays. On Oct. 19, the team faced Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) opponent Wilmington College during a home meet inside the BW Natatorium. The Yellow Jackets defeated Wilmington 104-99, which included top performances from senior All-OAC, junior All-OAC stroker Marissa Kural, and freshman freestyler Julia Newbould who won their individual events.
The remaining meets in the month of October will all be at home for the Yellow Jackets. The next competition for BW will be a two-day meet on Oct. 25-26, when the Jackets host Bethany College, Manchester University and NCAA Division II Ursuline College, all schools outside of the OAC. The first away meet will be Nov. 8 at the University of Mount Union in Alliance.
