The Baldwin Wallace Men’s Soccer team are off to a much better start than they have been to in prior years starting the year with a 5-3 record. The Men’s team started off the season with a 6-1 win against Chatham in the Herb Laufer Memorial Tournament. However, they were unable to get a result in the final falling to the host team of Penn State Behrend 3-2. Baldwin Wallace was able to bounce back the following week dominating in shots on goal and possession defeating Allegheny in double overtime 2-1. Unfortunately, they failed to get a result again in the home opener against a very tough Denison side losing 2-1. The following week was the team’s most successful yet as on Wednesday, September 11, the Yellow Jackets defeated Wooster at Wooster in a 2-0 victory. It was in this game that Senior Forward Danny Ruple surpassed the all-time goal scoring record for men’s soccer here at BW off an assist from Dylan Keeling. They followed that with a 5-0 win against Pitt Bradford in the game honoring 50 years of soccer at Baldwin Wallace. That was then followed by a tough, last minute 2-1 loss against Oberlin.

However, the Yellow Jackets were able to bounce back again in their last outing away at Waynesburg University with a 5-0 win. Danny Ruple was able to lead the team to a fast start with a goal in the 3^rd minute in the game tallying his season total to 11. The game seemed to settle down until sophomore midfielder Dylan Keeling scored an absolute rocket of a goal to make his total up to 3 on the year. With goals from Senior Forward Canon Dees, Senior midfielder Rafael Davalos from the penalty spot, and a debut goal from Sophomore midfielder Nick Surowicz, the Yellow Jackets were able to win handedly. On the other side of the ball, freshman goalie Matthew Weaver came in to relieve Senior Goalkeeper Patrick Mehal in the second half and made the two necessary saves to keep the clean sheet. Unfortunately, he left the game with an injury after making his second save. In the end, BW had an impressive showing and will be looking to continue their moment with their upcoming matches against Olivet, and Pitt-Greensburg before opening conference play with Capital Unversity.
