The Baldwin Wallace University women’s swimming and diving team took home fourth place out of five total teams at the Ohio Athletic Conference’s Championships, Feb. 14-16.

John Carroll University brought the trophy home for the third straight year.

Freshman freestyler Bella Ratino led the Yellow Jackets by winning one event and setting two school-records in the process. She opened the tournament by winning the 1,650-yard freestyle in a new school record time of 2:09.55.

She went on to break another school record that had been standing for the last 9 years in the 200-yard back with a time of 2:07.81.

In her first OAC Championship, Ratino won two titles, broke three individual school-record and contributed to one school-record relay.

All in all, Ratino brought back to Berea three individual All-OAC honors and one All-OAC relay accolade.

Junior All-OAC freestyler Allie Thorson received the runner-up position in the 1,650-yard freestyle, finishing with a career-best time of 17:59:96 to receive her fifth career All-OAC honor and third of this year’s competition.

Sophomore diver Lauren Franz brought home her second straight OAC accolade finishing second in the 3-meter 11-dive, with a second place finish and career best total of 282.95 points.
