Pendola leads women’s XC in early going

The Baldwin Wallace University women’s cross country team competed in the unscored Wooster Invitational on Friday, August 31st to kick off their 2018 campaign.

Junior all-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and Academic All-OAC performer Bella Pendola led the Yellow Jackets with a 4k time of 15 minutes, 26.6 seconds, good for a fifth place finish. Other top 25 4k finishers included sophomore Molina Otte, sophomore Madison Kile, freshman Sophi Perez and junior Academic All-OAC selection Katie Fowler.

On September 8th, the team finished 7th out of nine teams in the Tommy Evans Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Akron at the Silver Creek Metro Park Cross Country Trails. Pendola again led the way for the Jackets, running a 5k time of 18 minutes and 49 seconds, which helped earn a 18th place finish. Other notable finishers from BW include Kile (career-best time of 19 minutes and 2 seconds), junior two-time All-OAC and Academic All-OAC performer Kelly Brennan, Otte and Perez.

The Jackets travel to Williamstown, Massachusetts to partake in the Purple Valley Classic on September 22nd and then will travel on September 29th for the All-Ohio Championships in Norton, Ohio.
