The Baldwin Wallace University men’s swimming and diving team has had a rough start to the beginning of 2019 season, starting off with an overall record of 1-3.

They dropped their season-opener to NCAA Division II Malone University by a final score of 129-99.

They then followed that up with their first Ohio Athletic Conference loss of the year to Ohio Northern University by an even bigger margin of 160-75.

Additionally, they lost their first home meet to cross-town rival John Carroll University by a score of 192-46.

Despite their tough, early losses, they may be beginning to gain some momentum as they finally secured a win this past weekend in a 121-48 win over Pitt-Bradford.

There were strong performances across the board, but the Yellow Jackets were led by Michael Morsch and Michael Lewis, who both won two events.

Lewis finished first in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-individual medley while Morsch secured the first place spot in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly.

There were also wins by Matthew Butt and John Beyer, who won the 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard freestyle, respectively. Lastly, Rinaldi rounded out the top finishers with wins in both diving events.

The team will finish off their regular season on Feb. 2 against Case Western University at home.

They will then compete in the OAC swimming and diving championships from Feb. 14-16 at the University of Akron.
