Men’s basketball seek to right ship for OACs

After falling to their last two competitors, the Baldwin Wallace University men’s basketball team looked to get things right heading into the OAC Tournament.

After topping Capital University, the Yellow Jackets were stung by No. 9 Mount Union, on Feb. 19.

In the meantime, senior guard Michael Quiring was able to get cement his name in BW record books by scoring his 1000th career point. Junior guard Luke Schaefer led the Yellow Jackets in scoring dropping 17 points on the Crusaders. Senior forward Drew Sova added eight points and led the contest with nine rebounds.

Against Mount Union, the team was led by junior guard Luke Schaefer who racked up 18 points, two rebounds and two assists. Quiring added 15 to his career total to move up a spot on BW’s all-time scorers list. He now sits at 40, with 1,020 career points.

The Yellow Jackets look to continue improving toward the OAC tournament in their remaining game before the OAC tournament starts. With one game left in the regular season the Yellow Jackets currently sit at fourth place in the conference, and could play any one of John Carroll, Capital, Heidelberg or Wilmington who are third through seventh including BW, and all sitting one game apart in the conference,

The team will wrap up their home campaign on Saturday, Feb. 22. This will be the final game before the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament beginning on the 25th of this month. The team knows they’re in the tournament, and after sweeping through the tournament as the No. 5 seed last season, are in somewhat familiar territory.
