Women’s Soccer
The third-seeded Capital University women’s soccer team defeated fourth-seeded Baldwin Wallace University, 4-1, in the 2014 Ohio Athletic Conference Championship Match at Bernlohr Stadium.  With its win, Capital, 16-5-1 overall, advances to next week’s NCAA Division III National Tournament.
With its loss, BW, 11-9-3 overall, lost for the second straight weekend to Capital and for the fourth straight time in Columbus. Capital beat BW, 2-1 in overtime, on Nov. 1. The four goals that BW allowed marked just the second time this season. Despite its loss, BW outscored its opponents, 39-28, in 2014.

Men’s Basketball
Three Baldwin Wallace University men’s basketball players scored in double figures as the Yellow Jackets opened the 2014-15 season on the road with an impressive 82-56 victory against Eastern University.
The Yellow Jackets (1-0) were led by senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Jaron Crowe (Mentor) and senior guard Justin Roth (Parma) with a team-high tying 11 points.   The Eagles (0-1) were led by Shaquan Turk with a game-high 11 points.
In addition to Crowe and Roth, senior center Reid Crossen (Jeromesville/Hillsdale) scored a career-high 10 points and grabbed a career-high seven rebounds off the bench.  Also, sophomore forward Jake Fetherolf (Norwalk) grabbed a career and game-high 10 rebounds and scored a career-high nine points in his first career start.

Three Baldwin Wallace University men’s soccer players have been named to the 2014 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team.
Senior defender Trey Arney (Coshocton) and senior midfielder Michael Brennan (Akron/ Walsh Jesuit) were named as second-team All-OAC choices, and senior forward Cody Smith (Brunswick) was named to the honorable mention unit.  The trio are all scholar-athletes who helped the Yellow Jackets to an 10-10-1 overall record, a 6-1-2 slate during the OAC regular season and into the OAC Tournament semifinals. During their careers, the four-year senior standouts helped BW compile a 40-34-8 mark.

Women’s Volleyball
Sophomore libero Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) has been named to the 2014 All-Ohio Athletic Conference team as an honorable mention selection. Newcomer garners her first career All-OAC honor.
This season, Newcomer was the team captain and played in and started all 30 matches. She led the team and was second in the OAC with a career-high 660 digs and was the team leader with career-best 50 service aces. Newcomer also recorded a career-high 20 assists.
As a freshman, she appeared in 24 matches and had 11 assists, 25 service aces and 288 digs.
For her career, Newcomer has appeared in 54 matches and has 31 assists, 75 service aces and 948 digs. Off the court, Newcomer is an excellent student as she carries a 3.52 gpa in business administration.   She is a Dean’s List student and is a candidate for Academic All-OAC this season.Women’s Soccer
