Duo named All-Americans at National Championship
After defending their OAC title for the second straight year, the Baldwin Wallace University wrestling team sent nine wrestlers to the NCAA D-III National Championships, hosted by BW and the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission at Cleveland’s historic Public Auditorium.
As a team, the Yellow Jackets finished in 15th place out of 60 teams with 28 points.
Junior All-American and All-Ohio Athletic Conference 165-pounder Anthony Arroyo and senior All-OAC 125 pounder Chris Doyle led the Yellow Jackets as each earned All American accolades, earned by the top eight individuals in each weight class.
Arroyo earned his second straight All-American honor as he finished third in his respective weight class. His only loss in the tournament was to the eventual champion.
Arroyo ends his junior season with a record of 36-2. He will head into his senior year tied for 13th in school history with a mark of 92-17.
Doyle earned his first All- American honor finishing in eighth place with a record of 2-3.
He finishes his wrestling career at BW as an All-American with an overall mark of 97-53, ranked eighth in school history.
