The Baldwin Wallace University baseball team has started their season on fire. They are currently 13-3 and sitting at No. 15 in the nation. There are many reasons for this, but their hitting has been astounding.

The Yellow Jackets feature three players hitting over .400 (all with 45+ at-bats in 13+ games). Senior Chase Knodle has the highest average on the team with a .414 while also being tied for the least amount of strikeouts at six (min. 40 at-bats).

On the pitching side of things, senior Evan Lovick is 4-0 in five starts with an ERA of 1.50 and 22 strikeouts. Junior pitcher Danny Cody is currently 1-0 in five starts with a K/9 of 15.48. BW has a run differential of +74. Simply put, they have been dominant on both sides of the ball.

Out of the 13 wins, two have been done in walk-off fashion. In a 17-16 thriller with Bluffton, there were 34 hits and 11 total pitchers. Senior outfielder Ian Forster took the mound for the first time in his BW career.

He entered the game in the top of the ninth inning with bases loaded and two outs, probably not the ideal situation for his first collegiate pitching experience. However, with one pitch, Forster forced a groundout and set up a bottom of the ninth inning walk-off win.
