BW Prism Hosts Heartbreakers Cabaret

Valentine’s Day can mean many different things. For some, it can be time spent with a partner, but for others it may have a more negative connotation. The Baldwin Wallace organization, BW Prism, is putting on their annual cabaret titled Heartbreakers on Friday, February 1, at 10 p.m.

Heartbreakers is an event for everyone, regardless of how they feel about the holiday of love.

Event producer Madi Burwell, describes Heartbreakers as “an amalgamation of the angst, the passion, and the heartache that can come with Valentine’s Day.”

Each year, Heartbreakers takes on a different theme relating to love. This year’s theme is “Lady Bangers,” which focuses on songs about love written by women. One previous theme of the cabaret was “Makeups, Breakups, & Glow Ups.”

“One song I’m especially excited for is our closer–but you’ll have to come to the show to find out what it is,” Burwell teased.

In addition to the performance, a photo booth will also be set up – a DIY project designed by BW Prism’s Executive Board. The photo booth is meant for the attendees to capture their Heartbreakers outfits, as has become a tradition among the attendees at Prism shows.

BW Prism’s mission is to “unite and showcase the five facets of art: visual art, film, theatre, music, and dance,” Burwell said. BW Prism works to provide a creative outlet on campus through their performance opportunities.

According to Burwell, Prism works to “create experiences that are exciting, meaningful, and lasting.” The event will take place on Friday, February 11 at 10 p.m in Fynette Kulas, located in the Boesel Musical Arts Center. The doors and photo booth will open at 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $2.00, and both Venmo and cash are accepted.

In addition to Heartbreakers, BW Prism is also planning a community-based show titled PRISM Concert on Saturday, March 16th. This show is a collaborative night of all art forms centering around the theme of growth.
