BW mourns passing of athletics archivist

Linda Short, 73, archivist in Baldwin Wallace’s athletic department, was killed over winter break when her car was struck by a train.

Short, who was killed Jan. 10, lived in Berea and had been employed by BW since 1995.

“Linda was an unbelievable person in many ways,” said Kevin Ruple, BW’s Athletics Communications Director. “She loved… BW, and especially its students. Most of all, Linda was a kind, caring and compassionate woman. She will be dearly missed.”

Short was a graduate of BW, and a former resident of Kohler Hall, about which she held a plethora of stories. She worked for BW as both an archivist and an area coordinator.

Short was also a member of St. Thomas Episcopalian Church, near BW’s campus.

Short was well-loved by faculty and students alike, and her vast knowledge of BW and its history
was a treasure. She was always willing to help students by sharing her historical experiences at BW, including tales of mischief from her time as a resident in the dorms, to her favorite classes and professors.
