Brennan sets back-to-back bests

The women’s indoor track and field team competed in three different meets over the past two weeks.

BW competed in the Hillsdale “Wide Track” Classic in Michigan, the Annual Mid-February Meet at Baldwin Wallace University, and the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University.

The “Wide Track” Classic on took place on February 2 and 3.

Sophomore All-OAC distance runner Kelly Brennan had another successful meet as she set a career best in the 5,000-meter run and came in first place with a time of 17:35.53.

Freshman Rebecca Penrose also finished in first place in the 800-meter run with a career best time of 2:25.96.

In the field events, Jillian Roberts, Brooke Buckhannon, and Madeline Ziccardi all set career highs in the weight throw.

On February 9, BW competed in the Mid-February Meet at home where they placed third out of the 17 teams competing in the meet with 60 points.

Highlighted athletes included freshman Abby Lewicki who finished second in the pole vault with a career best
and distance runners Madison Kile and Hastings Marek who finished first and second in the 1,000-meter run.

The Yellow Jackets finished their busy two-week period at the All Ohio Championships on February 10th at
Otterbein University.

BW finished in tenth out of 17 teams at the meet, compiling 26 points. All-OAC distance runner Bella Pendola won the 5,000-meter run and her first career All-Ohio honors.

Junior Grace Nemeth also earned All-Ohio honors with a third place finish in the 200-meter dash.

The team will be competing in the Raider Tune Up on February 17 at Mount Union University.
