Leverette twice sprints into record books
The Men’s Indoor Track and Field team competed three times so far in February. The Yellow Jackets traveled
to Michigan to compete in the two-day Hillsdale “Wide Track” Open Meet, starting Friday, Feb. 3.
“This is a meet that we always look forward to. It has outstanding competition for our top end athletes [both national and OAC caliber athletes],” said head coach Matthew Cole prior to the competition. “This is an opportunity
for them to get into an atmosphere that will mirror our OAC championship. I imagine our top male athletes will perform well up there.”
On Feb. 9, the Yellow Jackets hosted the Mid-February Meet in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. The team finished 7th of 16 teams.
“The Mid-February meet was an opportunity for our developmental athletes to qualify to the conference meet” Cole said.
The BW men who qualified for the All-Ohio Indoor Championship competed Feb. 9 at Otterbein.
“Only the top 16 athletes [in each event] in division III in the state of Ohio make it to the All-Ohio Meet” said Cole.
Junior All-American sprinter Jordan Leverette broke his own school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.93 seconds in the Hillsdale Meet. The following week he broke the 60-meter dash school record with a time of 6.84 seconds in the All-Ohio Championship.
His performances led him to earn his second career OAC Indoor Track Weekly Honor.
