Yellow Jacket alumnus and cornerback Anthony Kendall has officially signed with the Cleveland Browns in his second NFL season out of Baldwin Wallace University.
Kendall was originally signed by the Tennessee Titans in 2023 as an undrafted free agent and appeared in 16 career games during his rookie NFL season. He divided his time between the Titans’ and Baltimore Ravens’ practice squads in 2024.
The Browns initially expressed interest in Kendall following his senior year at BW, with sources saying they met with the cornerback “on multiple occasions” in early 2023, according to si.com, with him even receiving an invitation to attend the Browns’ rookie minicamps, as reported by dawgsbynature.com.
A multiple time All-Conference selection, Kendall is only the seventh player in the NFL to come from a Division III school.
In his senior year at BW, Kendall racked up 56 tackles, three interceptions and one sack, also earning second team Division III All-American honors as well as being named the OAC Defensive Back of the Year.
According to dawgsbynature.com, Kendall was consistently able to “out-leverage wide receivers with refined technique and above-average athleticism for the Division III level,” during his time as a Yellow Jacket.
After Monday’s signing, Kendall stopped by BW to visit Yellow Jacket football coach Jim Hilvert, who previously told The Exponent that Kendall “stood out” as an outstanding player since his freshman year.
“[Kendall] was a guy that was definitely going to be a difference maker for us and did a really good job,” Hilvert told The Exponent in 2023.
This deal with the Browns now gives Kendall a shot at contending for a roster spot in training camp or getting on Cleveland’s practice squad in the future, according to wjhl.com.
