The Late Night Hive, Baldwin Wallace University’s new student-run pizza service, is now taking orders. Due to the recent closing of the Domino’s Pizza in Berea that had previously accepted Jacket Express cards, BW Dining Services wished to capitalize on the pizza market.
The food service runs from 8 PM to 11 PM on Saturday and Sunday evenings. The Late Night Hive debuted February 2, selling pizzas and appetizers for Super Bowl Sunday.
From February 8, the food service will now be delivering orders to student residence halls and campus apartments until midnight.
Currently, the service is selling sixteen-inch signature pizzas for $13.95, which can be paid for with students’ Jacket Express card. These pizzas include fresh basil and mozzarella, roasted vegetable, buffalo chicken, BLT, and chicken bacon ranch.
Simple cheese pizzas are sold for $9.99, with toppings added for $1.00 each, which include pepperoni, mushrooms, green peppers, onions, and sausage. Students can receive a free 2-Liter of soda with an order of two pizzas.
A variety of appetizers are sold by the dozen. Chicken wings are $9.00, mozzarella sticks are $6.60, and jalapeno poppers are $6.60 as well.
“My friends ordered two pizzas for delivery, and they delivered in only thirty minutes. It was really good pizza,” Junior Andrea Panzuto said.
“Last night I called twice and the line was busy both times,” Senior BW student Alex Coundourides said. “Maybe they weren’t expecting so many calls, so it was probably successful.”
“I thought it was better than Georgio’s Oven Fresh Pizza,” Sophomore Alicia Dawson said.
Pizza and appetizers from the Late Night Hive are currently produced and delivered by student organizations for fundraising. Though some organizations have already committed, BW food service is looking for more students.
Students workers will earn an hourly wage of $8 per hour plus tips for their organization.
Student organizations who wish to participate must sign up for an entire shift, meaning at least five organization members must work plus two alternates. Two to three of these members must be van certified to deliver.
