Baldwin Wallace student Daniel Ruffing will premiere in his first concert at BW, “Lost His Marbles,” on Feb 23, featuring his own Broadway-style compositions.

Ruffing, a junior Arts Management major, has written a show based around his Broadway-style composition of Youtube personality Jenna Marble’s song “I Want to Be Tall,” which Marbles acknowledged in a video titled “Reacting to Your Memes,” where she listened to Ruffing’s version with a smile on her face.

“The idea for the concert was mostly a result of the Jenna Marbles stuff I did on my [Youtube] channel, so that kept happening and her fans wanted more stuff,” said Ruffing. “So I thought, ‘Okay, cool, I can turn it into an actual staged show,’ but that’s gonna take way too long to do, it’ll take at least ten to fifteen years before it even gets anywhere, so the concert is probably the closest thing to watch or listen to or go to while they’re waiting for the show to happen.”

Ruffing has been writing his own music since he was a sophomore in high school and has composed a total of three shows throughout his life. Although, “Lost His Marbles’ is his first show with Baldwin Wallace.

People have a positive attitude about performances from the show, said Sarah Farris via email, the production’s assistant director.

“The general vibe is lighthearted and just fun. A good portion of the songs are very funny, so it makes for a fun environment,” said Farris.

Casting and production have been running since around October with rehearsals going since January.

The show will premiere on Feb 23 at 7 p. m. in Gamble Auditorium, and tickets will cost anywhere from $30-$45, with a student cost of $15.

The show will also be live streamed through Twilit Publications, run by fellow BW students Devon Tingley and Helen Kohler as a way to help student musicians share their music with the world.
