The past couple weeks have been eventful for the men’s indoor track & field team.

The Yellow Jackets started off the season Jan. 19 with the OAC North Split at home in the Lou Higgins Center Fieldhouse. The meet featured Mount Union, John Carroll, Ohio Northern, and Heidelberg.

Head coach Matthew Cole believes this meet was a “fantastic opener with some of the top teams in the OAC for track and field.”

“We had 14 or 15 practices before that meet,” he said. “We have a lot of freshmen on the team this year, so for some of those guys it was a quick awakening to what the OAC has to offer. We were very pleased with how our men performed and responded competing at home against the other top notch teams in the OAC.”

The Yellow Jackets finished 5th of 5 teams in the OAC North Split, and the following week scored 1st of 3 teams in the Dr. William Taraschke Classic, held on Jan. 26 at home.

“We had a lot of top performances and top three finishes,” Cole said. “Individual standouts are Zak Dysert in the Weight Throw, as well as Isaac Wilson and Jordan Leverette in their running events. All three men performed very well in both meets.”

The women’s team will travel to Michigan on Feb. 2nd for the Hillsdale “Wide Tack” Classic
