The Baldwin Wallace women’s softball started their season by taking a trip down to Kissimmee, Florida for spring break, where they competed in 10 non-conference games. The team returned home on March 10th with a record of 5-5.

Head Coach Spencer said the team really improved during the week in Florida. The BW women’s softball team faced some very difficult competition to prepare for the OAC. Coach Spencer said they were a much better team when they left in comparison to their arrival on Sunday.

Minor tweaks in their play helped them see success toward the end of the week. Coach Spencer said, “Early in the week we left to many runners on base, but we started getting a few clutch hits during the latter part of the week. We were very aggressive on the base paths, and that put a lot of pressure on our opponents.”

The team is now taking on a two-week break from games, so Coach Spencer said the team is going to continue to practice hard to stay mentally sharp.

“The difficult competition down south should have the team well prepared for the competition they will face up here,” said Coach Spencer.

The Yellow Jackets will go on to play to play Marietta (3/24), Case Western (3/25), Albion (3/29), and Mount Union (3/30), in the upcoming two weeks.
