Baldwin Wallace’s Fraternity and Sorority life is currently preparing for their anticipated Greek Sing event on Nov. 18.
An annual event, Greek Sing brings fraternities and sororities together for an epic dance off, complete with choreographed moved and upbeat music.
Each sorority and fraternity have a specific theme that they base their songs and performances off of.
Although each fraternity and sorority have their own specific numbers and stage time, each one collaborates with another; that is, a sorority will perform with a fraternity at least once during the night.
The experience is unlike any other. For many of the participants, it serves as a great way to interact with other members of Greek life.
Clare Helmer, a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, believes Greek Sing is a really fun and rewarding experience.
“Greek Sing is so fun,” she said. “It’s a great way for me to bond with my sorority sisters, and also a good way to unify the Greek community and meet new people. You get to dance with all your friends!”
Members are also provided the opportunity to learn valuable lessons about things like teamwork and leadership. Learning how to dance in sync with one another is hard, but builds character.
“It really helps you make connections with your sisters and also guys from the fraternities,” Helmer said. “I’ve learned that dancing to a choreographed piece requires lots of concentration and encouragement.”
The performance will be held at Strongsville High School at 6 p.m. Tickets are $11.
