Over spring break, the Baldwin Wallace baseball, softball, and women’s and men’s lacrosse teams all traveled to different parts of the country to compete. With trips to Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, Kentucky, and Michigan, each team had a busy schedule full of games, touring, and fun.

The baseball team traveled to Florida to play eight games, winning four of them. The team won two games versus Elms (Mass.), Rockford (Ill.), Moravian (Pa.). The team also took on a Division I opponent in Central Michigan. These games helped improve baseball’s early season record to 9-4, as well as a top 25 ranking in the nation (according to d3baseball.com). The weather was good for baseball, and the team’s solid performance reflected that.

The softball team traveled to Arizona and Hawaii for their spring break games. They swept Division II Chaminade, and also beat Goshen (Ind.) and Bethel (Ind.) for big wins. The team did a lot during their free time, and traveled around Hawaii for what was an “unforgettable experience.” This included visiting beaches, the local areas, and the Pearl Harbor site. The team was able to do all this even with their games they had to play, and really made the most out of the trip. The team experienced plenty of delays on the way back to Ohio, but made it back, and are continuing their season.

The women’s lacrosse team also traveled to Florida for their trip. They racked up a big win against Methodist (N.C.) in one of the two games they played on the trip. The women had improved their record to 4-1 early in the season. The team was able to soak up some Florida sun instead of being in the bitter Ohio cold, and seemed to enjoy their time in the sunshine state.

The men’s lacrosse team had a more unconventional spring break trip, traveling to both Kentucky and Michigan for non-conference games. Early in the week, they went to Kentucky to take on Transylvania, and left with an eight to three victory. The Yellow Jackets did not stop there, as they traveled north to take on Alma, where they escaped with a 10-7 victory. These victories were games three and four of a current seven game win streak for the Yellow Jackets.

No matter where each team went, they had a fun, sunny, and successful trip. Though the teams have since returned to the inconsistent Ohio weather, these trips are likely highlights to each teams’ season. The weather was not the only great thing about the trips, because each team faced some new, intense competition.

Each Yellow Jacket team is currently in conference play, and are all searching for a coveted OAC championship. Be sure to catch each team in action at their respective home games, and support your fellow Yellow Jackets!
